Michael Passingan Ewal, born on December 26, 1970, in Madang, Papua New Guinea, is a veteran reggae artist, songwriter, and performer whose music blends roots reggae with powerful messages of peace, equality, and environmental consciousness. Known to many as Justice Mokiniz, he stands as one of Papua New Guinea’s true reggae pioneers — an artist whose voice carries both passion and purpose.

From his early days playing makeshift instruments as a child in Madang to performing nationwide with his first band Simply Justice, Justice M’s journey reflects over three decades of dedication to music and message. His songs speak to the heart of humanity — calling for unity, justice, and the preservation of the planet. Deeply inspired by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Lucky Dube, he has developed a sound that is distinctly his own: soulful, conscious, and rooted in the struggles and hopes of everyday people.

Justice M’s career has seen collaborations with some of Papua New Guinea’s leading studios including CHM Supersound, Pacific Gold, True Sons, and Specified Musik. He is also the founder of Higher Motives Events, a movement using music and creative advocacy to raise awareness about climate change and social development across the Pacific. His single “Climate Champion” stands as a call-to-action — urging listeners to protect the earth and empower younger generations to become stewards of change.

Beyond the stage, Justice Mokiniz is a mentor, community builder, and activist. He has championed youth engagement through sports, music, and environmental education, embodying his belief that reggae is not just a sound — it’s a lifestyle of peace, progress, and positivity.
